Concentrates disrupt pH balance; Goldmedics remedy advice available

Texas A&M University has now shown it in black and white: the pH (acidity) of your horse’s gut with concentrates drops to and below (!) 6. A normal acidity of a horse that is fed roughage is 7. Ph 6 is a critical limit, below   there is a great risk of colic and laminitis, among other things. And also the composition of the microflora and the links with immunity, joints, brain, …. are negatively affected.

Certainly in horses with a metabolic problem, the amount of starch + sugar must remain below 50 g per day (0.1 g/kg body weight).
